How can I edit my Panasonic HC-X1000 4K MOV videos in Final Cut Pro X? Last week, my daughter used Panasonic HC-X1000 shoot some 4K MOV videos in their school sports. She wanted to import them into FCP X for some editing. However, she asked me for help that she can’t edit 4K MOV footage in FCP X. I do not know either. Please help us in how to edit Panasonic HC-X1000 4K MOV or MP4 videos in Final Cut Pro X directly, thanks!

The new Panasonic HC-X1000 is a conventional camcorder design but with 4K recording at up to 60fps at 150Mbps or alternatively HD recording at up to 200 Mbps in ALL-I mode. In addition, the camcorder packs a wide variety of professional features and functions and a 20x optical zoom lens into an extremely compact body, enabling the most nimble and mobile shooting as the scene unfolds. It can record in different file formats with MP4, MOV and AVCHD all offered depending on the resolution and frame rate.

For video compression, MOV and MP4 uses the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 standard, supporting a variety of standard, high definition, and stereoscopic (3D) video resolutions.  MOV and MP4 format are supported by some video-editing software like Adobo Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas Pro, Adobe Premiere Elements… But these editing software can’t handle 4K footage well. However most people like to edit Panasonic HC-X1000 4K recordings in Final Cut Pro (FCP 6, FCP 7, FCPX).
